A Dragon’s investment “When I set up Animatazz in May 2007 I knew I needed to get myself into a business minded environment so I obtained office space at the Guinness Enterprise Centre. As a start-up this gave me access to a range of information and expertise that helped me focus, I found the mentoring from Dublin BIC particularly beneficial. Starting out and coming from an art background, there are so many aspects of business to be encountered and grasped, operations, marketing, R & D, financial and accounting, without this service I possibly wouldn’t have lasted too long.“Since the Spring of 2009 Animatazz has been on the most amazing rollercoaster ride enjoying a top ten toy spot in Ireland in the run up to Christmas. It started out innocently enough when I pitched my business on RTE’s Dragons Den and successfully obtained investment from Gavin Duffy. Then in a whirlwind of meetings and agreements with Smyths, Ken Black and Hasbro, Animatazz – the animation kit went into production. In 5 months we went from prototype to a mass-produced most wanted toy on the shelves of Smyths Toys Stores.
